In "The People Who Help Keep Them Flying Part 2," Dick Elgin returns to school as the new slalom champion, but the team’s spirit is tested when Coach Davis is sidelined with a broken leg. With Fr. Carroll seeking help, Chuck steps in to guide the squad—until Red Jones strikes a deal with Slim, trading the coaching role for Flagpole’s spot on the New York Barnstormers. When Flagpole struggles during a crucial game, Red’s unorthodox advice to wear his raccoon cap leads to a surprising turnaround, helping the team pull off a comeback. Written by Max Pine and illustrated by Frank Borth, with a cover by Bill Martin, this 1959 issue captures the quiet triumphs behind the scenes of sports.
