Toyfare: The Toy Magazine #96

Aug 2005 · Wizard Entertainment · 4.99 USD; 6.99 CAD

A squad of Imperial troopers takes a bizarre detour from their usual duties, filming a recruitment video that quickly goes off the rails when they’re asked to milk a dewback. Sent on a strange mission to deliver a roster of Star Wars Expanded Universe characters—including Jar-Jar Binks, Wicket, and Teebo—they’re greeted by Xizor on a remote planet, enjoy a surprisingly questionable Ewok meal, and pick up a mysterious robot that might just replace them all. Written by Pat McCallum, Zach Oat, Justin Aclin, Jon Gutierrez, Andrew Kardon, and Chris Ward, this offbeat issue from Toyfare: The Toy Magazine #96 (2005) is a delightfully absurd, self-aware romp through Star Wars lore.

The troopers are shooting a recruitment video, but quit when asked to milk a dewback. They make Vader droids. They are sent on a mission to drop-off characters to the expanded universe. They arrive, are greeted by Xizor, and drop-off Lumat, Jar-Jar Binks, Teebo, Rugor Nass, Wicket, Dex, and Twiki. They dine on Ewok. They pick up a robot they are supposed to bring back. They realize it could replace them all and so dump it out the airlock.
