Top 10: The Forty-Niners #[nn]
In "Chapter 1: What Is Believable After War," Alan Moore and Gene Ha deliver a gripping, emotionally charged entry in the Top 10 series, where Officer Dark’s unsettling authority becomes the only shield against a terrifying vampire assault. As Steve confronts his past with Leni and uncovers a military conspiracy led by Lars and Skyshark, the line between loyalty and survival blurs—especially when the reservoir itself becomes a weapon of faith. Gene Ha’s haunting visuals and Todd Klein’s precise lettering heighten the tension in a story that redefines what it means to believe in justice when everything has broken.

The captain orders Officer Dark away from the ambush, to the horror of the other officers; she's the only one that the vampires fear. Steve comes out to Leni, and attempts a reconciliation. He finds Wulf wounded, and learns that Lars and Skyshark are bombing ethnic neighborhoods as part of a military coup. The vampires attack en masse, but Officer Dark blesses the reservoir, turning it into holy water, which the police hose onto the vampires. Steve shoots down Lars, but Leni saves him from Skyshark. Leni learns that Steelgauntlet is an A.I., and Steve asks Wulf to stay with him forever.
