Kanvasback takes a job training race horses at the Podunk Racing Stables, where he bonds with Glueglue, a perpetually losing horse—until his fight promoter Mal Arkey shows up with a big match and insults both Kanvasback and his four-legged friend. When Mal's jibes about Glueglue go too far, Kanvasback decides to teach his manager a lesson the only way he knows how.
Tom Mix puts on a thrilling riding exhibition in Cactus Junction to raise funds for the injured Sheriff Harmon, but his good deed is interrupted when he discovers that the outlaws Ivey and Currey have struck again—robbing the gold assayer's office. Determined to track them down across the desert plains, Tom finds himself caught in a massive dust storm just as he closes in on the culprits, forcing him into an unexpected confrontation at their hidden hideout. With the odds stacked against him and the outlaws determined to silence him permanently, Tom must rely on his wits and fighting skill to survive the night.
