Tom Mix

When the transcontinental Red Chief explodes under mysterious circumstances, Tom Mix learns the truth from the War Department: the saboteur Doctor Goliath has been deceived—the Army's secret XP-80 mystery plane was never aboard. Tom agrees to guard the real plane as it travels by ordinary freight car to the coast, but Goliath's ruthless operatives strike again, sending Tom plunging into the desert while the train vanishes without a trace into the Solo Bend wilderness. Now Tom must race against time to find the missing train, the stolen plane, and the young woman Jane caught in the crossfire—before Goliath escapes with both.

When Jane visits her old friend Pop Johnson in Forgotten Valley, she brings along her new Straight Shooter's Electric Telegraph Set—a nifty gadget for tapping out Morse code messages. But when ruthless bandits arrive to steal the gold dust hidden beneath Pop's cabin, Jane finds herself gagged and desperate, forced to rely on her quick thinking and the telegraph's SOS signal to call for help. With Tom Mix and the ranch hands racing against time to answer her distress call, a showdown erupts at the burning cabin that will test whether a kid's ingenuity can outsmart hardened criminals.
