Tom Mix and his companions return from capturing La Puma only to be intercepted by Wash and Nevada Crawford, who brings desperate news: her father has been kidnapped and a mysterious figure calling himself "The Watcher" demands she sign over the Paylode Mine lease or her father will be killed.
