The eternal cat-and-mouse standoff gets a clever new twist on this 1961 Dell cover, where a very wary Tom grips what appears to be a slingshot or catapult lever while Jerry perches confidently on a rod above him — and a smaller mouse figure clings to the bent arm of the contraption, red object in hand, looking ready to let it fly. Lynn Karp's artwork captures that perfectly timed moment of tension right before things inevitably go sideways for poor Tom.
