To Love Ru #5-6
In "Trouble 35: Golden Darkness," Lala faces a turning point when her father, Gid, arrives on Earth to demand her marriage to Rito under threat of destruction. Determined to break free from her royal obligations, Lala uses a memory device to erase herself from everyone’s mind—only to discover the next day that the device failed, and her presence remains in their hearts. Written by Saki Hasemi, Alex Gaspard, and J. P. Sullivan, with art and inks by Kentaro Yabuki, and a cover by Yabuki and Nicky Lim, this emotional chapter explores identity, choice, and the weight of legacy in a story that’s as heartfelt as it is unexpected.

Gid has come to Earth to officially state that Lala will be wed to Rito, who will become the royal successor. He reminds Rito that if Rito disappoints him by not going through with the wedding, Gid will destroy the Earth. Lala intervenes; she won't marry Rito under those conditions. She uses a memory device to erase all memory of her from everybody on Earth. She wants to start over, without the pressure of being princess or betrothed. This is acceptable to Gid, who leaves peacefully. The next day, it turns out the device didn't work - they all remember Lala.
