“Baptême du feu !”

In "Baptême du feu !", the New Mutants launch a high-stakes rescue mission for Rictor, plunging into a brutal clash with Sabretooth and Caliban—two forces of chaos with very different agendas. Masque’s sudden interference adds a dangerous twist, and as the dust settles, Rictor finds himself confronting his own past and gaining unexpected respect for Cable. Written by Louise Simonson and Fabian Nicieza, with Rob Liefeld’s dynamic art and Hilary Barta’s inks, this 1991 issue delivers a raw, intense chapter in the team’s journey, all framed by Ciro Tota’s striking cover.
