The rabbit attempts to take over the bear's job, but after encountering an actual bear, the two characters become confused about who is the bear and who is the rabbit, leading to humorous confrontations. Meanwhile, Bobo and his family attempt to become cowboys, with Bobo getting mixed up with a retriever dog and various animal companions in their misadventures on the ranch.
When Kid Carrots boasts that anyone could do a bear's job, Grandpaw Grizzly calls his bluff and the two swap roles—the rabbit takes over as the woods' official bear while the grizzly tries his paw at being a rabbit. But when a determined bear hunter shows up looking for game, both discover that talking a big game and living up to it are two very different things.
