Thunderbolts #147 kicks off the "Scared Straight" crossover with Avengers Academy, and Marko Djurdjević's cover sets an appropriately menacing tone — a monstrous green-faced figure looms in the foreground alongside a red-helmeted brawler smashing through rubble, while a dark armored figure with glowing red eyes and a claw-handed assailant close in from above. The team of Parker, Walker, and Martin was earning serious praise in 2010 (IGN called it a book they "can't recommend enough"), and this collision of volatile villains-turned-operatives with young heroes-in-training promises exactly the kind of unpredictable, high-stakes tension the series does so well.
