Thunderbolts #140
Set against the crackling atmosphere of Marvel's 2010 Dark Reign era, this issue of Thunderbolts presents a striking cover by Francesco Mattina — a heavily armored figure in sleek, segmented black metal dominates the foreground, while a skeletal, ghoulish enemy crackles with electrical energy behind them, red eyes gleaming with menace. The tension between the two figures is palpable, the lightning-charged backdrop giving the whole scene an ominous, high-stakes charge. With Jeff Parker writing and Miguel Sepulveda on interior art, this is a compelling chapter in one of Marvel's more morally complex team books.
