The eighth volume of Thorgal brings Jean Van Hamme and Grzegorz Rosiński's acclaimed European series to a quietly unsettling place with "Alinoë." Rosiński's cover painting is all autumnal warmth and unease at once — a dark-skinned figure with wild green hair stands with their back to us beside a forest stream, while a fair-haired woman and small child watch from a distance amid the golden foliage. That contrast between the luminous woodland setting and the mysterious, otherworldly figure at its center promises something both beautiful and strange from this 1985 Le Lombard release.
