The fifth volume of Thorgal arrives in 1983 with "De schaduwen voorbij," and Grzegorz Rosiński's cover sets a haunting, dreamlike tone: a lone warrior figure — Thorgal himself — stands small against a vast, ghostly face that looms like a specter from a misty, desolate landscape of jagged silhouettes. The contrast between the solitary, grounded hero and that enormous ethereal presence speaks to something mythic and deeply atmospheric. Jean Van Hamme and Rosiński continue to prove why this Belgian series deserves a place on every serious comics shelf.
