Thorgal #29

Volume 29 of the long-running Thorgal series arrives in this 2007 Carlsen Comics edition, titled "Das Opfer" (The Sacrifice), with story by Jean Van Hamme and Harald Sachse and cover art by Grzegorz Rosiński. The cover is genuinely unsettling: a pale, seemingly lifeless figure lies stretched across a candlelit altar while a dark-robed, horned presence looms overhead with arms raised in a ritualistic gesture, the whole scene bathed in deep reds and flickering amber. Rosiński's painterly style lends the image a brooding, almost mythic weight that sets an ominous tone for whatever ordeal awaits the Viking wanderer Thorgal.
