The twenty-second volume in the beloved Franco-Belgian series finds Thorgal looking very small indeed — a lone, armed warrior facing down a monstrous black rat with glowing red eyes in what appears to be an oversized, richly decorated hall. Grzegorz Rosiński's cover painting makes brilliant use of scale and shadow, the tiny figure clutching a bow against a creature that towers over him amid enormous fruit and golden ornaments. Jean Van Hamme's title Reuzen — Dutch for "Giants" — promises a tale where familiar dangers take on a whole new, unsettling dimension.
