Thorgal races through the crumbling stone corridors of a buried ancient city in this 2017 Cinebook release, with a rearing stone horse looming in the shadows and a distant figure framed by a doorway of warm, flickering light — Grzegorz Rosiński's atmospheric cover work painting an immediate sense of urgency and mystery underground. Jean Van Hamme's script and Rosiński's artwork have long made this Franco-Belgian series a standout, and "The Kingdom Beneath the Sand" promises exactly the kind of mythic adventure the title suggests. A compelling addition to any shelf of the series.
