Terry is dismayed as her friend Joe, a skilled ping-pong player, loses to the clumsy Nancy. Despite Joe's usual prowess, he plays poorly, grinning sheepishly after each defeat. Terry suspects something is off and realizes Joe is intentionally letting Nancy win, indicating he has a crush on her. This revelation makes Terry feel sick, as she thought Joe valued their friendship too much to pursue another girl, especially one like Nancy. As Terry leaves the recreation hall upset, Joe chases after her, revealing he was frustrated by Nancy's poor sportsmanship, not by his feelings for her.
