About this Collection

This fourth volume in Image's Witchblade Collected Edition series compiles a run of the ongoing supernatural crime saga, following NYPD detective Sara Pezzini as she wields the ancient, sentient weapon known as the Witchblade. The collection gathers issues from the mid-to-late 1990s, continuing the blend of dark fantasy, action, and mystery that defined the series' early years under creators like Marc Silvestri and David Wohl.

The Witchblade Collected Edition #4 (1996) delivers a gripping climax to a tense power struggle, as Irons attempts to seize the Witchblade from a broken Sara with Nottingham’s aid. With Ian’s desperate rebellion ending in tragedy and Irons finally claiming the weapon, Jake’s brutal arrival reignites Sara’s resolve—leading to a pivotal moment where she fights back to reclaim her destiny. Written by David Wohl, Michael Turner, and Christina Z., with art by Michael Turner and inks by D-Tron and Team Tron, the issue’s emotional weight is matched by its striking visuals, all rendered with precision by Jonathan D. Smith and Dennis Heisler. The cover, penciled by Michael Turner and inked by D-Tron, captures the moment’s intensity with bold, dynamic lines.
