“The Red Shoes - The Beep Test”

Issue 32 of The Wicked + The Divine arrives in 2017 with a cover by Jamie McKelvie that's quietly arresting: a shaved-head figure wearing a smiley-face badge stands at the center, framed by swirling neon light trails in hot pink and cool blue against a grid-like background — and notably, the lower half of the title is printed in mirror-reverse, giving the whole composition an unsettling, reality-bending feel. The laurel tattoo etched across the figure's forehead signals divine territory, while the chaotic luminous loops around him suggest forces that are anything but under control. With Kieron Gillen writing and Matthew Wilson's vivid coloring completing the package, this is the kind of cover that stops you cold before you've even cracked the spine.
