Wild Bill Pecos confronts a man-killing outlaw known as the Thunderbird on the plains. After a rifle shot kills the outlaw, Wild Bill and his companion Nuggets pursue a gang of pirates who possess a map to buried Spanish gold, battling the pirate captain Blackbeard and his crew. The story concludes when Wild Bill captures the Rancey Brothers, wanted swindlers, and collects a reward with which he plans to buy his friend Nuggets a new pony with a built-in saddle.
