Wild Bill Pecos and his saddle partner Nuggets arrive at a railroad construction camp in Deep River Valley, only to find themselves caught between progress and tradition—a Sioux medicine man has cursed the railroad with supernatural wrath, calling down arrows that vanish, lightning that strikes with impossible precision, and promises of worse to come. As mysterious deaths and disasters plague the camp, Wild Bill must uncover whether the medicine man's powers are genuine or something far more earthly, all while the railroad's construction boss desperately needs answers. Patricia Layne—better known as Calamity Kate—steps in to protect a young rancher named Lonnie Cahill after he's beaten by hired thugs trying to keep him out of the Paradise River rodeo. When she discovers that a ruthless cattle dealer named Hugo Jennings is behind the attack, desperate to prevent Lonnie from winning the bull-dogging prize money needed to save the family ranch, Kate vows to keep watch at the rodeo itself.
