Styled as a vintage Golden Age comic-book cover, this Vertigo gem from October 2011 announces the arrival of a masked, red-and-yellow-clad hero called The Tinker, leaping dynamically from the page amid retro panel layouts and speech bubbles teasing "Tomorrow City." Lizzie Hexam and Richie Savoy appear in the lower panels alongside a tense close encounter between The Tinker and Tom Taylor, with the cover copy cheekily asking what shocking secret the two share. Cover art by Yuko Shimizu captures the period pastiche with real affection, while the interior of this second chapter of "On to Genesis" comes from the always-inventive team of Mike Carey, Peter Gross, and Vince Locke.
