The Tick: Free Comic Book Day #2017
"Happy Birthday Tick!" delivers a delightfully absurd slice of political satire, with The Tick and Arthur caught in the chaos of a bizarre presidential debate featuring the flamboyant Kurt Bombast, the indecisive Capricious Blue, and the surprisingly reluctant Red Scare. When the mysterious Tunn-La tries to seize control of the nation through a convoluted mind-control scheme, it's up to The Tick to dismantle the machine—just in time for a very special birthday celebration. Written by Jeff McClelland and illustrated by Duane Redhead, with full art and inks by Redhead, this Free Comic Book Day 2017 issue offers a sharp, surreal blend of comedy and satire, all on a 0.00 cover.

The Tick and Arthur watch a presidential debate between Kurt Bombast, Capricious Blue and the Red Scare. Bombast proposes ridiculous ideas such as super-villains paying for an expensive new prison, Capricious is wishy-washy and Red Scare simply doesn't want to be recognized as a super-villain. Tunn-La attempts to control the minds of the candidates as part of an admittedly "unnecessarily complicated plan" to control the USA but the Tick wrecks Tunn-La's mind control machine.
