The Terrifics #4

Part of DC's 2018 "New Age of Heroes" initiative, The Terrifics #4 delivers exactly the kind of pulpy, wide-screen adventure its premise promises — and the cover by Doc Shaner makes that crystal clear. The entire team is scattered and scrambling across the writhing tentacles of a massive cosmic squid, with a screaming, goggle-wearing figure tumbling in the foreground, a fiery orange-suited hero and a pale, ghostly teammate fighting mid-coil, and what appears to be Mr. Terrific in his white jacket caught further below. Colorist Nathan Fairbairn bathes the scene in warm pinks and deep starfield blues, giving the whole thing a retro science-fiction energy that suits the boldly proclaimed tagline — "Killer Squid from Outer Space!" — perfectly.
