The Stand: No Man's Land #3
The third chapter of Marvel's five-part adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand arrives with a cover by Tomm Coker that unsettles from the first glance — a man poring intently over a ledger while a horrified woman recoils behind him, the background filled with handwritten words about the post-apocalypse that turn genuinely chilling the closer you read them. Coker's muted, shadow-heavy palette gives the scene a queasy intimacy, making the ordinary object of a ledger feel deeply threatening. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Mike Perkins, and Laura Martin continue bringing King's sprawling vision to comics form in this 2011 limited series.
