This second chapter of Marvel's five-part American Nightmares arc — adapting Stephen King's sprawling post-apocalyptic novel — opens with a cover by Lee Bermejo that stops you cold: a wild-eyed, grinning figure looms forward out of a wall of roaring flames, one scarred arm outstretched with an eerie light cupped in his palm, industrial wreckage silhouetted against the inferno behind him. The image radiates menace and dark carnival energy in equal measure. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Mike Perkins, and Laura Martin bring King's nightmare world to life inside, and Bermejo's painted cover sets the temperature perfectly.
