Mary leads an assault on Alcatraz looking for the dragon sign but finds her quarry has already escaped. As Jasmine and Lance are sailing away from the island, Menicus tells them of a past mission where Joseph Chamberlain had his own son gunned down in order to kill Lang's lover Aimy. The blood of both victims touched the mystical dragon staff and awakened the Spirit of the Tao--creating two babies that Menicus and Lang were able to escape with. Those two children would grow up to be Jasmine and Lance.
