Part of DC's First Wave line, this August 2011 issue finds Will Eisner's masked crimefighter in a deliciously tense situation — the Spirit leans intently over a desk strewn with letters and feminine accessories, holding a photograph of himself marked with a lipstick kiss, while a glamorous woman in a black dress raises a cleaver behind him. José Ladrönn's cover drips with noir atmosphere, bathing the whole scene in deep reds that perfectly suit a story titled "Deadly Valentine." With David Hine writing and Moritat on interior art, this is pulp romance and danger in equal measure.
