Atop a crumbling rooftop, the masked and fedora-wearing Spirit lands a solid punch that sends a bald, knife-wielding thug flying, while a second rough-looking adversary closes in from the left — all rendered in Jordi Bernet's lively, kinetic linework against a warm orange sky. This March 2008 DC issue, titling its story "The Medical Murders," teams the sharp writing duo of Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier with artist Mike Ploog and inker Mark Farmer for what promises to be a gritty, street-level adventure. Will Eisner's beloved masked crimefighter looks right at home here — confident, scrappy, and very much in his element.
