The Spectre #23

This Holiday 1988 issue ties into DC's Invasion! First Strike event, and the cover by Chris Wozniak delivers a striking tableau: the ghostly white-and-green Spectre stands at center with arms raised, flanked by a red-skinned figure on the left and a gold-armored one on the right, while a cloaked, white-haired figure looms at the far edge — all set against a chaotic burst of alien spacecraft exploding in a vivid pink and purple sky. It's a wonderfully atmospheric assembly that hints at cosmic stakes and uneasy alliances. Writer Doug Moench's "House of the Secret Enemy" sounds like exactly the kind of supernatural thriller this series does so well.
