The Spectacular Spider-Man #216

Part two of "The Predator and the Prey" arrives in this September 1994 installment of The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Sal Buscema's cover sets a tense, kinetic scene: a black-suited Spider-Man looms over a battered, grimacing Scorpion, who's sprawled amid industrial machinery with his tail tangled in the chaos. The cover copy warns that Spidey has already hurt an innocent and asks how far he'll go to stop the Scorpion — raising the stakes before you've even cracked the spine. With Tom DeFalco and Todd DeZago on script and Buscema handling both pencils and inks, this is a solid slice of mid-'90s Marvel storytelling.
