Spider-Man finds himself in dire straits on Sal Buscema's cover, pinned against a stone wall by the eerie green, decaying hands of Carrion while the silhouetted figures of Hobgoblin and Carrion loom menacingly in the moonlit background. The cover teases a brutal two-front threat — a "deadly duo" — and even dangles the tantalizing possibility of Spidey's secret identity being exposed. Written by Gerry Conway with art and inks by Sal Buscema, this 1990 issue of The Spectacular Spider-Man promises a tense, atmospheric chapter in "The Carrion Cure.
