Few images capture Spider-Man's predicament quite like this December 1988 cover by Sal Buscema: the wall-crawler is bound head-to-toe in heavy chains and thick rope, straining helplessly against his restraints while a web-filled background looms overhead. That corner caption — "…and it gets worse!" — promises that whatever led to this moment is far from over.
