Looming over a glittering nighttime cityscape, the Shadow fills this cover with cold-eyed menace — hat pulled low, cape spread wide, twin pistols blazing in both gloved fists as spent casings catch the light. Howard Chaykin brings his sharp, cinematic sensibility to both the writing and artwork of this Cold War-tinged thriller, with colorist Jesus Aburtov drenching the scene in deep blacks and smoldering amber. If the mood set by this striking image is any indication, "Midnight in Moscow Part 2" delivers exactly the kind of hard-edged pulp atmosphere the Shadow does best.
