The Shadow's March 1988 DC run reaches its eighth issue with the opening chapter of "Seven Deadly Finns" — and Kyle Baker's cover sets a genuinely unsettling tone right from the start. A grinning, sharp-featured figure looms over a bloodied, slumped victim, scissors or a blade in hand, while a masked face peers in from the lower foreground, the muted blues and deep reds giving the whole scene a bruised, noir atmosphere. Andy Helfer and Baker were pushing the Shadow into dark, mature territory in 1988, and this cover makes that intention unmistakably clear.
