“Plastic Snow and Mistletoe”

This Special Holiday Issue of The Sensational She-Hulk delivers the series' trademark self-aware humor right on the cover: Jen has left an answering machine message explaining that she and Weezi are off to California for the holidays, while two smiling figures peer in from a framed photo nearby — and a bright red telephone sits waiting for your reply. John Byrne's cover (pencils and inks) turns the whole concept of a superhero cover on its head with cheerful wit, letting an answering machine do the talking instead of She-Hulk herself. It's a warm, playful setup for a holiday issue that clearly isn't taking itself too seriously — and that's exactly what makes it so enjoyable.
