This February 1988 issue of Marvel's long-running black-and-white magazine series puts a horned, snarling warrior front and center, sword raised and a dark-haired woman clutched close behind him as flames and fallen foes surround them — a cover painted with raw, earthy intensity by Roger Stine. The scene crackles with desperation and defiance, setting an atmospheric tone for the interior tale, "Feast of the Stag," brought to life by writer Charles Dixon and artist Gary Kwapisz.
