This December 1980 issue of The Savage She-Hulk opens with one of the series' most arresting cover images, penciled and inked by Michael Golden: a stricken She-Hulk collapses in torn clothing, caught by a desperate male companion, while a ring of armed gunmen closes in from below with weapons raised. The cover's bold caption — "You won't need those guns — the She-Hulk is dying!" — sets a genuinely tense and dramatic mood that pulls you straight into "In the Shadow of Death!"
