“Master Of The World Part 1”

"Master Of The World Part 1" delivers a crackling blend of pulp adventure and sci-fi mystery, weaving together past and present through the enigmatic journey of Doyle and Verne in 19th-century Siberia, where an alien ship and a clash of empires set a course for the unknown. In the present, Bishop’s bold scheme to revive the flagging spirits of Restin sends him into the Wild West, where the seemingly harmless Al Jennings hides a dangerous secret—leading to a shocking confrontation that leaves Restin questioning everything. Written by Budd Lewis and illustrated with bold, dynamic flair by Lee Elias, with a striking cover by Nestor Redondo, this 1980 issue of The Rook Magazine is a standout in the series’ storied run.

In the past Doyle and Verne organise an expedition to uncover the cause of a mysterious explosion in Siberia. They stray into a conflict between Cossacks and Mongols, and are then attacked by an alien space-ship. Meanwhile, in the present, Bishop organises a bogus emergency to help lift Restin out of a funk, and sends him back to the Wild West to solve the mystery of the disappearance of inept train-robber Al Jennings. Jennings is not what he seems, and guns Restin down.
