The Resistance #2

The second issue of WildStorm's The Resistance assembles a striking collage cover featuring a diverse cast of characters: a mermaid adorned with star tattoos, a heavily armored figure flanked by eerie glowing-eyed alien creatures, a luminous woman crackling with energy, and a masked face peering from the lower corner. The layered, overlapping composition — the work of cover artists Christopher Shy, Jesús Saiz, and Kevin Nowlan — gives the ensemble a vivid, fragmented urgency that hints at a world where strange powers and stranger beings collide. With writing by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray and interior art by Juan Santacruz, this 2002 series looks like exactly the kind of ambitious superhero reinvention WildStorm did so well.
