Marvel's long-running Western series puts the Rawhide Kid in a rough spot on this 1971 cover, penciled and inked by Larry Lieber and Marie Severin — a burly villain in a polka-dot shirt has the red-haired Kid in a chokehold, his six-gun lost, while a woman in red and a gunman look on from the left and a worried bystander watches from the right. A figure lies prone on the saloon floor below, and the cover dialogue — "Then we're gonna take care of him — real slow-like!" — makes it clear the Kid's odds look grim. "Ride the Savage Land" promises plenty of Western tension for fifteen cents.
