The October 1969 issue of Rawhide Kid promises a bruising frontier confrontation with "The Menace of Mystery Valley!" — and the cover by Larry Lieber and Mike Esposito delivers on that promise immediately. A hulking, white-bearded giant in a fur-trimmed coat dominates the scene, clutching the red-haired Rawhide Kid in one massive fist while rearing back a crushing punch against a backdrop of log-fort walls. It's a wonderfully visceral piece of western action from Marvel's long-running cowboy series, the kind of cover that makes it hard not to flip straight to the first page.
