The Rawhide Kid #100

A milestone hundredth issue for Marvel's long-running western series, and the cover by Larry Lieber sets the stakes perfectly: the Rawhide Kid and his brothers burst out of a jailhouse doorway, guns blazing, while armed opponents close in from both sides in a deadly ambush. Speech bubbles make the tension explicit — "They were waitin' for us! It's a trap!" — as the trio fights their way through a gauntlet with nowhere to retreat. "Gunfight at Fury Falls!" promises exactly the kind of high-noon drama that made this title a staple of Marvel's 1972 lineup.
