Julius Chancer's airplane crashes in Karachi, where the party gets a lead on a missionary who's seen the rainbow orchid. Evelyn Crow kidnaps Josette and follows by air. Meru leads them to Father Pinkleton, with Batuk as a Sherpa. Following the missionary's directions they climb into the Himalayas, but Batuk betrays them to Eveleyn Crow.
