“The Frame”

In "The Frame," Chuck Dixon teams up with John Romita Jr. and Klaus Janson to deliver a tense, gritty chapter in The Punisher: War Zone, where the mob's desperate cover-up spirals into a deadly game of deception. Mickey and Johnny Tower, operating under Frank's old mob alias, attempt to pin the blame for a failed operation on Sal Carbone—only to send him on a fatal drive that ends with a chilling plunge through frozen lake ice. The cover, by Romita Jr. and Janson, captures the moment with cold precision.

Mickey and Johnny Tower (Frank's mob alias) try to cover up the Punisher's knocking over of Carbone operations by framing Sal Carbone. Mickey and Johnny take Sal out to whack him on orders from his brother, Julius, but Sal rabbits from the car and falls under the ice of a frozen lake. They give Julius the news that Sal is dead, little knowing that he was pulled from the ice by an emergency unit still alive.
