The Punisher #16
This unsettling issue of The Punisher greets readers with a cover by Declan Shalvey that fills the entire frame with a gaping, jagged-toothed maw — and there, visible between the teeth in the darkness, is the unmistakable silhouette of Frank Castle himself, skull emblem and all. It's a striking image that puts the Punisher squarely in the jaws of something far larger and more threatening than he is, setting a tone of genuine menace. Writer Becky Cloonan, artist Matt Horak, and colorist Lee Loughridge continue their run here, and if this cover is any indication, issue #16 is not pulling any punches.
