“The Home of the Free”

Peter Milligan's Cold War super-soldier series reaches its penultimate issue with a cover by C.P. Smith that stops you cold: a screaming face split down the middle, one half draped in the American flag's stars and stripes, the other branded with a swastika — two ideologies violently fused into one. The story is titled "The Home of the Free," and that irony lands hard against Smith's stark, high-contrast brushwork. It's a genuinely unsettling image that captures everything this WildStorm series has been building toward.
