The Outsiders #10

Against a bold red field dominated by a hammer and sickle, five Soviet super-agents bearing CCCP insignia stride forward with unmistakable menace — the cover's speech bubble proclaiming that The Outsiders "is no more" and has become "The People's Heroes!" sets up a deliciously Cold War-charged premise straight from August 1986. Jim Aparo's clean, confident linework gives each figure — from the axe-wielding woman in green to the barrel-chested brawler front and center — a distinct and imposing personality. Mike W. Barr and Aparo were clearly having a great deal of fun leaning into the era's East-West tensions with this one.
