The Original Ghost Rider #17

The flaming skull of Johnny Blaze crouches in a defensive stance on the cover of this November 1993 Marvel reprint series, his blue-and-white costume striking against the eerie, oppressive forms of massive orange tentacle-like appendages looming over him on all sides. It's a genuinely tense image — penciled by Manny Galan and inked by Scott Koblish — that sets the stage perfectly for the "Hell-Bound Hero!" story within. With interior art by Dick Ayers and a script from the team of Dan Slott, Tom Brevoort, and Mike Kanterovich, this is a solid slice of early-'90s Ghost Rider adventure.
